The
owner of a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup contacted the Department of Veteran
Affairs Police Department to report his vehicle stolen. The
owner parked his vehicle at the VA Hospital. When he returned to it, he found
it missing. The Department of Veterans
Affairs PD verified the theft and entered
the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which
automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed
in the Chevrolet pickup.
A short while later detectives from the Dallas Police Department picked up the
silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet pickup with the LoJack Police
Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues
from the PTC, the detectives tracked the stolen Chevrolet pickup to a
house in the 2600 block of Mojave.
Officers determined that the stolen Chevrolet pickup was in the backyard
and when they tried to make contact with the homeowner, he slammed the front
door closed and locked it.
Detectives obtained a search warrant and made entry into the backyard where they found this stolen Chevrolet pickup. Sitting next to it was a frame to a 2018 Chevrolet pickup stolen from the same VA Hospital. Inside the house the detectives arrested the homeowner. Inside one of the rooms detectives found parts to a stolen Chevrolet Camaro. This is an ongoing investigation. This 2017 Chevrolet pickup was missing some parts when recovered. The collateral value was $8900.00.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Silverado pickup in August 2018 at CarMax in Irving, TX.
