When a Mercedes-Benz C280 was stolen recently in Fresno, CA, the owner had a good idea of who the culprit was. After several attempts to contact the thief personally, the owner contacted local police so they could activate the LoJack® system that was installed when the car was purchased. With LoJack’s help, officers were able to recover the C280 and take a suspect into custody.
On May 14th, 2014, the owner of the Mercedes reported the crime to the Fresno Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the C280, which was installed at Downtown LA Motors in Merced, CA.
The following day, Washington State Patrol troopers received the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Mercedes was located traveling in the vicinity of State Route 303 and Sheridan. A traffic stop was performed and the driver was placed under arrest. The undamaged C280 was soon returned to its thankful owner.
