A 2009 BMW 328i was stolen from its owner’s residence in El Cajon, CA on a recent Thursday. The LoJack® system that was installed when the vehicle was purchased proved its value by helping local law enforcement recover the car in less than a half hour after activation.
On May 8th, 2014, the BMW’s owner contacted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the 328i, which was installed at Cunningham BMW in El Cajon, CA.
Less than 30 minutes later, deputies from San Diego CSD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies located the BMW in a residential area on Trial Drive, where it was parked and unoccupied. The undamaged 328i was recovered and soon returned to its elated owner.
