An auto dealership in Tracy, CA, discovered on a recent Friday that a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro was missing from their lot. Because the car was protected with the LoJack® system, members of local law enforcement recovered it quickly and safely.
On April 25th, 2014, the dealership owner contacted the Tracy Police Department to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Camaro, which was installed at Fairway
Chevrolet in Las Vegas, NV, was then automatically activated.
Later that evening, officers with the California Highway Patrol picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Chevy was located parked and abandoned near 98th and Bancroft in Oakland. They recovered the Camaro, valued at $26,500, and quickly returned it to the delighted dealership.
