The victim in this case worked at a retail store inside a casino in Las Vegas, NV. Three suspects entered the location and stole her purse. Security footage showed the three driving off in her Hyundai XG350. The LoJack® system that was installed when the car was purchased helped local law enforcement recover it in less than an hour and a half after activation.
On April 30th, 2014, the Hyundai’s owner contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack® transponder concealed in the XG350, which was installed at Planet Hyundai in Las Vegas, NV, was then automatically activated.
A short while later, officers with the LVMP Downtown Area Command picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Hyundai was located parked and unoccupied at an apartment building on Sunrise Avenue. The officers set up surveillance and took one male into custody as he attempted to enter the car. The three original suspects seen in the security footage were located in a nearby apartment, along with the victim’s purse, and were also detained. The undamaged XG350 was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
