- recovery stories
On a recent Wednesday morning, the owners of a business in Anaheim, CA discovered that their door had been kicked in and the keys to their BMW 325i had been taken and the car stolen. Because this valuable asset was protected with the LoJack® system, local police were able to recover it later that same day and take a suspect into custody as well.
The BMW’s owners contacted the Anaheim Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen on April 30th, 2014. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the 325i, which was installed at Shelly BMW in Buena Park, CA.
A short while later, flight officers from Anaheim PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their airship. The BMW was located, parked and unoccupied, in the area of Salem and Vermont Streets. Ground units set up surveillance, and saw a male approach on a bicycle and enter the car. Before he could drive away the officers approached. The male fled on foot but was quickly taken into custody. The 325i was retrieved and soon returned to the grateful business owners.
