In this case, a Toyota Corolla was stolen in Los Angeles, CA, on a recent Monday. It was recovered by local law enforcement later the same day, with assistance from the LoJack® system hidden inside the vehicle.
On April 28th, 2014, the Toyota’s owners contacted local police to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills, CA.
A short later, patrol officers picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Toyota was located in a storage yard in the area of Foothill Boulevard and Esko Avenue, where it was parked and unoccupied. Officers, with the assistance of detectives from the LA County Taskforce for Regional Autotheft Prevention (TRAP)-West Team, entered the location and retrieved the Corolla, which was soon returned to its appreciative owners.
