- recovery stories
This case involves the theft of a Chevrolet TrailBlazer in Los Angeles, CA. Because the SUV had a LoJack® system installed, it took local law enforcement less than a half hour to recover it and apprehend three suspects.
On April 23rd, 2014, the Chevy’s owners contacted local police to report that their SUV was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the TrailBlazer, which was installed at Rydell Automotive Group in Van Nuys, CA.
Just a few minutes later, detectives assigned to the Los Angeles County Taskforce for Regional Autotheft Prevention (TRAP) picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on their portable LoJack tracking computer. The Chevy was located on Lev Street, parked at the curb, with one suspect in the rear seat. The detectives requested backup and then observed two additional suspects entering the vehicle. As the patrol units arrived, a traffic stop was conducted and all three suspects were taken into custody. The suspects were in possession of keys and a remote for the SUV. The TrailBlazer was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owners.
