The New Mexico resident in this case was leaving his hospital job just after midnight on a Thursday, when he discovered his Ford F-250 missing from the parking lot. The LoJack® system that was installed when the pickup was purchased proved its worth by helping local police recover the truck later that same morning.
On January 16th, 2014, the Ford’s owner contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the F-250, which was installed at Town East Ford in Mesquite, TX.
A short while later, an officer with the New Mexico State Police picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen truck with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer contacted the Albuquerque PD Auto Theft Unit for assistance. The Ford was located on Town Center Lane SE in Albuquerque, where it was found parked and unoccupied. The F-250 was soon returned to its thankful owner.
