A Scion xB was stolen in Rampart, CA, and recovered in Long Beach, thanks to local law enforcement assisted by the LoJack® system, in just minutes after activation. A cranky neighbor in the area helped police catch the suspected thief as well.
On March 26th, 2014, the Scion’s owner contacted local police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the XB, which was installed at Toyota Place in Garden Grove, CA.
Just a few minutes later, officers from the Long Beach Police picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Scion parked and abandoned in an alley and approached from the car from opposite ends. One of the officers saw someone walk into the backyard of a nearby residence. The yard’s owner yelled at the suspect, who tried to run but was soon taken into custody. The xB was retrieved and quickly returned to its thankful owner.
