- recovery stories
In this case, two Colorado police departments, with assistance from the LoJack® system, combine forces to recover a Honda Accord stolen in Denver the same day it was taken.
On April 5th, 2014, the Honda’s owners contacted the Aurora Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NCIC state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Potamkin Auto Leasing in Hollywood, FL.
A short while later, officers from both the Denver and Wheat Ridge Police Departments were picking up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Denver officers located the Honda parked and unoccupied on West 45th Avenue. A suspect was identified at the location, and the Accord was retrieved and promptly returned to its happy owner. This was the second time this vehicle had been stolen and retrieved by police assisted by LoJack.
