In this case, a Queens, NY resident discovered his Ford E-350 missing from his residence on a recent Thursday afternoon. The LoJack® system that was installed when the van was purchased proved to have been an excellent investment. With LoJack’s assistance, local police recovered the vehicle in just over three hours after activation.
On March 27th, 2014, the Ford’s owner contacted the NYPD 11th Precinct to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the van’s information into the NYPD stolen auto computer and the NCIC national crime computer. The LoJack device concealed in the E-350, which was installed at Hempstead Ford in Hempstead, NY, was then automatically activated.
A short while later, officers from Nassau County picked up the homing signal from the stolen van on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Ford to a residential street in Hewlett, where it was parked and abandoned. After a brief surveillance, the E-350 was retrieved and soon returned to its very happy owner, who told police this was the third instance that the van had been stolen and recovered by police assisted by LoJack.
