The Laurel, MD residents in this case started their weekend off badly when they discovered their 2013 Acura missing early on a recent Friday evening. The LoJack® system they had installed when purchasing their vehicle less than a year ago proved what a good investment it was by assisting local police in recovering the car in less than two and a half hours after activation.
On January 10th, 2014, the Acura’s owner reported the crime to the Anne Arundel County Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the TL, which was installed at Tischer Acura in Laurel, MD, was then automatically activated.
Within a short period of time, patrol officers from the District of Columbia Metropolitan PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Acura on Alabama Ave SE in Washington, DC, where it was parked and unoccupied. The undamaged TL, valued at $29,175, was soon returned to its relieved owner.
