The Charlotte, NC residents in this case were out of town when their home was broken into. After ransacking and robbing the owners’ belongings, the thieves found car keys and took off in their Lexus LS460. The LoJack® system that was installed in the vehicle made this terrible experience a little easier for these victims by helping local law enforcement recover the car quickly, safely and without any damage.

On January 31st, 2014, the owner of the Lexus contacted the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the LS 460, which was installed at Hendrick Lexus in Charlotte, NC.

A short while later, officers from UNC-Charlotte Campus Police and CMPD officers picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The CMPD officers located the Lexus parked and abandoned on the street.  The undamaged LS 460 was retrieved and soon returned to its grateful owners.
