The Metairie, LA resident in this case received a phone call around 3:30 am on a recent Wednesday. He didn’t mind being awakened because the call was from the LoJack® Early Warning system installed on his Chevrolet Camaro SS, letting him know the car had been moved from his residence without his permission. This enhanced version of LoJack alerts vehicle owners by phone, text and email. With the assistance from LoJack, local police were able to recover the vehicle in less than 45 minutes after activation.
On March 6th, 2014, the Chevy’s owner contacted the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Camaro.
Just a few minutes later, a New Orleans PD officer while picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officer located the Chevy at an apartment complex where it was parked and abandoned. The Camaro, which was in great shape, was retrieved and soon returned to its extremely grateful owner, who told police that this was the second time his vehicle had been stolen and recovered by police assisted by LoJack Early Warning.
