Wouldn’t it be great if your vehicle could contact you to let you know when it’s being stolen? Believe it or not, that’s the theory behind the LoJack® Early Warning system, an enhanced version of LoJack that notifies you by phone, text and email when your car, truck, van or motorcycle is moved without your permission. In this case, a truck stolen from its owner’s workplace is recovered in just a half hour by police with help from LoJack Early Warning.

On March 5th, 2014, the owner of a Ford F-350 was at work when he received an Early Warning notification about his truck. He checked the parking lot, discovered his pickup was missing, and immediately contacted the Seattle Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the F-350, which was installed at Scarff Motors in Auburn, WA.

Just 30 minutes later, a King County Sheriff’s deputy received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car.  The Ford was located at an apartment complex on 26th Avenue South in Burien, where it was parked and abandoned. The F-350 was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
