The owner of a Chevrolet Camaro Z28 spent a recent Tuesday evening in a Metairie, LA motel. After checkout, he discovered it missing from the parking lot around 8 am. The LoJack® system that he had installed when purchasing his car saved his trip by helping police locate it in less than a half hour after activation.
On March 5th, 2014, the Chevy’s owner reported the crime to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Camaro, which was installed at AutoWay Chevrolet in Tampa, FL.
A short while later, a New Orleans PD officer picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officer located the Chevy parked and abandoned near Morrison Road. The Camaro, which was in great shape, was retrieved and soon returned to its very happy owner.
