- recovery stories
The workers at a construction site in Atlanta, GA were shocked when they arrived at the location to find that an Ingersoll Rand air compressor had been stolen. The owner of the machine, who was well aware of the thriving black market for construction equipment, wisely chose to protect this asset with the LoJack® system. Local police, aided by LoJack, were able to recover the machine in just over five hours after activation.
On February 18th, 2014, the manager of the site contacted Atlanta Police. Officers took a report of the theft and entered the compressor’s serial number into the NCIC police computer. This procedure automatically activated the Lo/Jack transponder concealed in the machine.
A short while later, an Atlanta PD officer began receiving a homing signal from the stolen machine on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer requested assistance and discovered the Ingersoll Rand parked and abandoned on a street in Atlanta. The air compressor was in good condition, and was soon returned to the job site.
