- recovery stories
When a dad in New Orleans, LA, let his son drive his Nissan Titan to school, he probably wasn’t expecting his son’s classmate to steal the truck. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened. Thanks to the LoJack® system the owner had installed when purchasing the vehicle, local police were able to recover it quickly and safely.
The truck’s owner contacted New Orleans Police on January 10th, 2014, to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Titan, which was installed at Gwinnett Place Nissan in Duluth, GA.
A while later, NOPD officers picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Nissan was located parked in the driveway of a residence. The officers saw someone in the driver’s seat and later learned it was the classmate/suspect. The driver was taken into custody, and the Titan, which was in good shape, was soon returned to the grateful father and son.
