When a Toyota Tundra was discovered missing in San Francisco, CA, on a recent Wednesday morning, its owner called police right away. Reporting your stolen vehicle to law enforcement is the only way to activate its LoJack® system, which provides a silent homing signal to help officers locate your property. In this case, the truck was recovered in less than 15 minutes after activation.
On February 19th, 2014, the Toyota’s owner reported the crime to San Francisco Police. Officers verified the crime information and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Tundra, which was installed at Toyota of Tacoma, WA, was then automatically activated.
Just a few minutes later, Oakland Police picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They located the Toyota on a side street, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged Tundra was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
