- recovery stories
It was late on a Thursday morning when the Coral Gables, FL residents in this case discovered their Nissan Maxima missing from their driveway. These victims got to experience the benefit of having their car protected with the LoJack® system. With LoJack’s help, local police were able to recover the Maxima in less than an hour after activation.
On January 9th, 2014, the Nissan’s owners contacted the Coral Gables Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Maxima, which was installed at Dadeland Dodge in Miami, FL.
A few minutes later, a Miami-Dade Police Department officer picked up the homing signal from the stolen car on their onboard LoJack tracking computer. The officer, along with backup, located the Nissan parked and abandoned near N.W. 35th Street and 35th Avenue. The Maxima’s owners were thrilled to have their car returned to them in such a short time.
