When the owner of a Scion tC in Albuquerque, NM, discovered his vehicle missing from his driveway one Wednesday morning, he knew his best course of action was to contact police right away. Reporting your stolen car to law enforcement is the only way to activate its LoJack® system. With LoJack’s help, the Scion was recovered in less than two and a half hours after activation.
On February 5th, 2014, the Scion’s owner contacted the Albuquerque Police t to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the tC, which was installed at Wondries Toyota in Alhambra, CA.
A short while later, an officer with the Albuquerque PD picked up the homing signal from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car. The officer requested backup and located the Scion in a residential area, where it was parked and unoccupied. After a brief surveillance, the tC was retrieved by police and soon returned to its thankful owner.
