When a Kawasaki ZX600 motorcycle equipped with the LoJack® system was stolen recently in San Jose, CA, local law enforcement not only located the bike in less than an hour after activation, but uncovered a large stolen vehicle and part business as well.
On January 6th, 2014, the Kawasaki’s owner called San Jose Police to report that his bike had been stolen from his home. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed on the ZX600, which was installed at Mission Motorcycles in Daly City, CA, was then automatically activated.
Later that evening, Santa Clara Auto Theft Task Force officers received the homing signals from the stolen motorcycle while on a stakeout of a suspected chop shop. They saw the garage door of the business they were watching open as the Kawasaki was driven inside. Officers then entered the closed business and found, in addition to the ZX600, six additional stolen motorcycles, various motorcycle parts and a stolen truck. The total estimated value of all vehicles and parts on site was over $60,000. Three suspects at the premises were arrested and the Kawasaki was soon returned to its relieved owner.
