The owner of a Toyota Camry parked his vehicle in a public lot on a recent Saturday afternoon, and when he returned to get his car, it was missing! Local police, with help from the LoJack® system installed when the Camry was purchased, recovered it in less than two hours after activation.
On January 11th, 2014, the Toyota’s owner reported the incident to the DeKalb County Police. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Toyota of Stamford, CT, was then automatically activated.
A short while later, air units from the DeKalb county PD began receiving a homing signal coming from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their airship. The Toyota was spotted traveling in a rural area, and the flight crew requested ground assistance. A patrol unit found the vehicle in a parking area with two passengers who appeared intoxicated. Both were taken into custody and the Camry was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
