- recovery stories
In this case, a used car dealership in King County, WA, discovers that a BMW 325i is missing from their inventory. Thanks to the LoJack® system installed in the vehicle, it wasn’t missing for long. Local law enforcement air and ground units, with help from LoJack, recovered the 325i in less than 90 minutes after activation.
On December 14th, 2013, the theft was reported to the King County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the 325i, which was installed at Hassel Motors in Freeport, NY.
Just over an hour later, a King County Sheriff helicopter received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in the airship. The flight crew requested assistance from a Seattle PD ground unit. The BMW was located on South Orchard Street, where it had been parked and abandoned. The undamaged 325i was soon returned to the dealership.
