- recovery stories
The owner of the stolen Honda Civic in this case may not have been as worried as most victims of car theft. Why? He already knew that the LoJack® system works. His vehicle had been stolen previously and then located by police assisted by LoJack, which he had installed when purchasing his Civic. In this instance, recovery took less than three hours after activation.
On December 18th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the Boston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence on Columbus Avenue in Boston sometime overnight. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This process automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Majestic Honda-Lincoln in West Warwick, RI.
A short while later, officers from the Weston PD began picking up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Honda was located traveling on Route 20. After a short pursuit, the driver pulled over and fled on foot with a juvenile passenger, but both were quickly found and taken into custody. The Civic was soon returned to its happy owner, who told police this was the second incident where the car was stolen and recovered by police assisted by LoJack.
