- recovery stories
It was just after 1 a.m. on a Friday when this Cleveland, OH resident discovered his Jeep Liberty was missing from his driveway. Thanks to the excellent work of his local police, with help from the LoJack® system installed in the SUV, it was recovered in just over one hour after activation.
On November 22nd, 2013, the Jeep’s owner contacted the Cleveland Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Liberty, which was installed at Lithia Colorado Chrysler Jeep in Denver, CO, was then automatically activated.
Shortly after, several law enforcement agencies on the west side of Cuyahoga County picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their cruisers. Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol found the Jeep in a secluded industrial area. As the Troopers pulled up, two males fled on foot. The two were taken into custody along with tools and other property found at the scene. The Liberty was soon returned to its thankful owner. This incident was the second time the Jeep was stolen and recovered by law enforcement assisted by LoJack.
