The Bronx, NY resident in this case didn’t realize that he had left his 2010 Honda Accord’s valet key inside the vehicle. Unfortunately, a thief did notice and took off with the car. What this crook didn’t see was the LoJack® system hidden inside the Honda. With LoJack’s help, the car was retrieved in less than two and a half hours after activation.
On December 31st, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the New York Police Department 45th Precinct to report his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the NYSPIN and NCIC state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Yonkers Honda in Yonkers, NY.
A short time later, NYPD officers assigned to the Bronx’s 43rd precinct picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Honda parked and unoccupied on a residential dead-end street in the Bronx. After a short surveillance, the undamaged Accord was recovered and released to its grateful owner.
