- recovery stories
The owner of two Toyotas, an FJ Cruiser and a Prius, made a mistake when he left the keys to both cars in his garage. Thieves broke in, found the keys and stole both vehicles. The LoJack® systems he had installed in the Prius and the FJ Cruiser helped local law enforcement locate both in under an hour.
On December 28th, 2013, the owner of the Toyotas contacted Contra Costa Highway Patrol to report the theft. Troopers verified the crime information and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponders concealed in both vehicles. Both devices were installed at Piercey Toyota dealerships- the PT Cruiser in San Jose, CA, and the Prius in Milpitas, CA.
A brief while later, CHP troopers were picking up homing signals from both Toyotas on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They tracked the stolen cars to a public parking lot at the Marina in Antioch where both were found parked and abandoned. The owner of the undamaged Toyotas was thrilled to get them back in such a short time.
