Imagine waking up on a cold December morning, getting ready to go to work, and discovering your vehicle is gone. That’s what happened to the Upper Marlboro, MD residents in this case, who were glad there was a LoJack® system installed in their SUV, so local police were able to recover it quickly and safely.
On December 14th, 2013, the Nissan’s owners contacted the Prince George’s County Police to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Armada, which was installed at Enterprise Car Sales in Waldorf, MD.
A short while later, K-9 officers from the Prince George’s County PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Nissan to Baltimore Avenue in College Park, where they found it parked and unoccupied. The Armada was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owners.
