- recovery stories
The owners of the Jeep Liberty in this case were the victims of an armed carjacking on Friday the 13th. Their luck was not all bad in this situation, however. Most importantly, no one was injured during the incident. Second, local police, assisted by the LoJack® system installed in the SUV, were able to recover it in less than two and half hours after activation.
On December 13th, 2013, the Jeep’s owner contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Liberty, which was installed at Antwerpen Jeep in Baltimore, MD.
A short while later, patrol officers in Baltimore City picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Jeep to Woodridge Road in Baltimore City, where it was found parked and abandoned. The victims were very grateful to have their Liberty returned to them.
