Philadelphia Police verified the theft and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Camry.
A short while later, officers from the Philadelphia Police Department’s 18th Police District picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Toyota on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the signal to the 5200 block of Addison Street. There, they observed the vehicle, parked at the curb. The officers cautiously approached the vehicle and determined that it was unoccupied. They confiscated the Camry for safekeeping and notified the owner of its safe recovery.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2005 Toyota in August of 2005 at Central City Toyota.
