Harley Davidson Stolen in Kent County, DE Recovered in Wal-Mart Parking Lot by State Troopers

On Tuesday July 17, 2012, the owner of a 2005 Harley Davidson FXD motorcycle made contact with the Delaware State Police to report that the motorcycle had been stolen from a public parking lot in Kent County, Delaware. Delaware State Police verified the theft and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Harley Davidson.

The following day, troopers assigned to the Delaware State Police’s Troop 3 began to pick up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Harley on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible signals on the LoJack computers, the troopers tracked the motorcycle to a Wal-Mart parking lot in the area of Jerome Road and DuPont Highway. There, the troopers located the Harley, parked between two vehicles. They placed the vehicle under surveillance for a period of time, but when no one returned for the bike, they confiscated it for safekeeping and notified the owner.    

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Harley Davidson FXD in May of 2007 at the Mike’s Harley Davidson Dealership in Delaware.
