On April 7, 2012, the owners of an Oldsmobile Cutlass called the Commerce City Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from their home. After verifying the theft, Commerce City officers had the Oldsmobile’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers, which activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, officers with the Commerce City Police Department picked up the Oldsmobile’s silent LoJack signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their police vehicles. Following the directional and audible signal on the LoJack Trackers, the officers tracked the vehicle to the area of 6700 East 72nd Avenue, where they located the vehicle, abandoned. The officers recovered the Oldsmobile and returned it to the grateful owners in good condition.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Oldsmobile Cutlass in March of 1996 by a previous owner. The current owners were unaware that the vehicle was equipped with the LoJack system.
