On April 30, 2012, California Highway Patrol officers assigned to the Santa Barbara Station picked up the silent LoJack homing signal a 2011 John Deere Skid Steer that was reported stolen to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department minutes earlier.

Following the directional and signal strength cues on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles, the officers tracked and located the stolen skid steer in the area of the 154 Freeway and Cathedral Oaks. The skid steer was parked and abandoned on the side of the road.

The vehicle was recovered, the owner notified, and the equipment released to the owner. The ongoing investigation is being conducted by detectives from CHP-Santa Barbara Station.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the skid steer at the owner’s request in August 2011.
